Thousands protested in French cities, including Paris, against violence against women, sparked by a trial involving 51 men accused of raping a woman over a decade. Demonstrators demanded legal changes to include consent in the definition of rape and increased government spending to combat sexual violence. The protests came two days before the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
