Pakistani inquiry finds $10M in irregularities in medicine procurement, causing shortages.

An inquiry in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, uncovered Rs1.9 billion in financial irregularities in the procurement of Rs4.4 billion worth of medicines under the previous caretaker government. The report, submitted to the Chief Minister, revealed policy violations and mismanagement that caused a severe shortage of emergency medicines. The current government is sending the report to the National Accountability Bureau for further investigation and will take action against those involved. Issues included unnecessary purchases and distribution to a limited number of centers.
