New Zealand reports a rise in doctors, with a significant boost from international medical graduates.

The Medical Council of New Zealand reported a 3.4% increase in registered doctors to 20,010, with International Medical Graduates (IMGs) accounting for 71% of new registrations, a 16% rise from the previous year. The Council's flexible registration pathways aim to support workforce growth and high-quality healthcare. Despite challenges in retaining IMGs, with only 25% remaining after ten years, the Council is working to enhance support and integration.
