Dumpsite in Ghana exposes workers to toxic fumes from burning e-waste, highlighting global e-waste crisis.

The Agbogbloshie dumpsite in Accra, Ghana, is a hotspot for hazardous smoke from burning electronic waste, mostly from developed countries. Workers there, including Abdulla Yakubu, face severe health risks due to daily exposure to toxic fumes. Globally, only 15% of e-waste is recycled, leading to trafficking into poorer nations where it's improperly disposed of, harming both the environment and local health. From 2025, the Basel Convention will require exporters to declare e-waste and get permission from recipient countries.
