Cambodian environmentalist Ouch Leng, a 2016 Goldman Environmental Prize winner, was arrested with five others while investigating illegal logging in Veun Sai-Siem Pang National Park. This arrest follows a broader crackdown on activists; in July, ten members of Mother Nature Cambodia were sentenced to six years for conspiring against the state. Rights groups accuse the government of persecuting critics through its judiciary.
