After 45 years, the Riverside County Sheriff's Office identified Lewis Randolph "Randy" Williamson as the suspected killer of 17-year-old Esther Gonzalez in 1979. Initially cleared due to passing a polygraph test, modern DNA and forensic genealogy techniques matched Williamson's DNA to evidence from the crime scene. Though Williamson died in 2014, the Gonzalez family found some closure in the resolution of the long-cold case.
