Vancouver group plans vigil on Vancouver Island to push for stronger protections against men who kill women.

The Vancouver Rape Relief and Women's Shelter plans a November 25 vigil at the B.C. Legislature in Victoria to press the provincial government for stronger protection against men who murder women, marking the first time the event is held on Vancouver Island. The vigil mourns the 15 women killed by men in B.C. this year, half of whom were murdered by their current or ex-partners. The shelter urges the government to take action against violent repeat offenders, as many victims fear reporting abuse due to concerns of escalating violence.
