Six people were displaced after a house fire in Chapin, Lexington County, caused by a kerosene heater placed too close to combustibles. The Lexington County Fire Service advised keeping flammable items three feet away from heating sources and recommended using heaters with an automatic shut-off switch. Fire Marshal Adam Harmon emphasized that older adults are at higher risk and urged planning for emergencies. Three dogs also died in the fire.
