NHS lung check program detects over 5,000 cancers, mostly at early stages, targeting smokers.

The NHS Targeted Lung Health Check programme, launched in 2022 in South West England, has detected 388 lung cancers, with over three-quarters found at the earliest stages. Since its 2019 launch nationwide, it has diagnosed 5,037 cancers, focusing on current and former smokers. The initiative aims to catch cancers early and plans full UK rollout by 2030.
