James Gunn's DC Studios will skip Batman and Superman origins, focusing on new stories and characters like Swamp Thing.

James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, announced that the new DC Universe will not retell Batman and Superman's origin stories, as they are well-known. Instead, the studio plans to focus on new storylines and lesser-known characters like Swamp Thing. The first entry, "Creature Commandos," will be followed by a Superman film starring David Corenswet, set for release in summer 2025. Gunn aims to revitalize the DCU by introducing established superheroes in different roles.
