Gananoque, Canada, has agreed to a new five-year contract with the Kingston Humane Society (KHS) for animal control services starting in January 2025. The deal, costing double the current amount, includes a $500 monthly retainer fee and plans to quadruple the fee for pet owners to retrieve impounded dogs from $120. The KHS will handle stray dogs, with most animals returned to owners; the town averages 1.4 impounds annually.
