Egypt reports progress in energy sector despite production drops, aims for more renewables.

Egypt's Minister of Petroleum, Karim Badawi, reported progress in narrowing the cost gap for petroleum products and a 14% increase in natural gas consumption. Despite a 10% drop in oil and 25% in gas production, the Ministry added 71 million barrels in reserves and plans to boost renewable energy's share to 42% by 2030. Badawi emphasized initiatives for stable investor cash flows, increased production, and collaboration with the Ministry of Electricity to optimize energy use. He also highlighted the potential of the mining sector, aiming to increase its GDP contribution to 5-6%.
