D.C. Mayor Bowser nominates interim director Kwelli Sneed to permanently lead the city’s violence reduction office.

Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser has nominated Kwelli Sneed, the current interim director, to lead the Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement (ONSE) permanently. Sneed's appointment comes after a 34% drop in gun violence in priority areas under her leadership. The nomination now requires approval from the D.C. Council. Sneed plans to continue reducing violence by strengthening partnerships with the police and community leaders.
