Charges were dropped against Xavier Roa, a pro-Palestinian protester arrested in Nassau County for wearing a kaffiyeh, a traditional Palestinian scarf, under a local ban on masks used to obscure identities. Roa's lawyer called the dismissal a "big victory" for civil liberties, arguing the law is unconstitutionally vague. Prosecutors said the allegations could not be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
