Amsterdam has extended its moratorium on new cannabis businesses and smoke shops for three more months, despite state licenses already being issued. The city's initial three-month moratorium in September aimed to review and update zoning regulations as the cannabis industry grows. Mayor Michael Cinquanti stated that the state regulations lack sufficient local oversight. A committee has been formed to review zoning laws and recommend updates to the city council before the moratorium ends in March.
