Winnipeg Sea Bears captain Chad Posthumus, 33, passed away after suffering a brain aneurysm during a training session on November 9. He underwent surgery but succumbed to complications. Posthumus, a Winnipeg native, was the first player to sign with the Sea Bears and a key figure in the Canadian Elite Basketball League. The team has set up an online Book of Condolences, and his family requests donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation instead of flowers.
