A shootout in San Diego left one suspect and one officer injured; the suspect later died.
A fatal shootout occurred in San Diego's Little Italy on November 13, involving Port of San Diego Harbor Police officers and suspect Christopher Farrell, who had earlier killed his ex-girlfriend and her husband near the downtown courthouse. During the confrontation, Farrell and Harbor Police Officer Patrick Lynch were injured; Farrell later died. Officers Jason Day and Alexander Kahn also participated, with Day and Kahn firing their weapons. Lynch, a two-month veteran, did not fire his weapon. The incident is under review by the San Diego County District Attorney's Office.
