One in four Nigerians over 15 want to leave their communities, with young men most likely to seek migration.

One in four Nigerians aged 15 and above wish to leave their communities, either permanently or temporarily, according to the National Bureau of Statistics' recent survey. Men are more likely to want to migrate than women, with 31.2% and 19.3% expressing this desire, respectively. Among age groups, 34.5% of those aged 20 to 30 want to migrate, compared to 26.9% of 15 to 18-year-olds and 25% of 31 to 64-year-olds. The survey also found that marriage is the main reason for relocation, followed by living with relatives or seeking employment.
