Mary Quinn, 35, charged after 5-year-old girl drowns in canoe she took without permission.

A 35-year-old woman, Mary Quinn, charged with failing to provide the necessaries of life after a five-year-old girl drowned in Wabamun Lake, Alberta. Quinn, under house arrest for a previous offense, took the child out on a canoe without permission. The girl's father and fishermen searched the lake, finding Quinn with the child's body in the canoe. Quinn's actions afterward suggest she tried to hide her involvement. A decision on bail is pending.
