Lithuanian man caught using fake identity to claim €17,000 in pandemic unemployment benefits.

A Lithuanian man, Darius Musinskas, was caught after falsely claiming €17,000 in pandemic unemployment payments under a fake identity while hiding from human trafficking charges. Facial recognition technology by the Department of Social Protection led to his arrest. Musinskas pleaded guilty to theft and using a false identity, receiving a three-year suspended sentence and a €9,300 fine. He was previously acquitted of people smuggling charges.
