Indian Army unveils new 'Asmi' machine pistol, boosting self-reliance in defense tech.

Lieutenant General M V Suchindra Kumar reviewed the newly inducted 'Asmi' machine pistols, developed by the Indian Army with the DRDO. The 100% Indian-made weapon, featuring an eight-inch barrel and a 33-round magazine, is designed for close-quarter battles and specialized operations. The first batch of 550 pistols was inducted into the Northern Command, which oversees operations in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, highlighting the Indian Army's commitment to self-reliance in defense technology.
