India releases funds to Karnataka's rural areas, but election delays threaten further grants.

The Indian government has released Rs 448.29 crore as the first instalment of the 15th Finance Commission grant to Karnataka's 5,949 rural local bodies for FY 2024-25. These funds aim to support sanitation, drinking water, and other essential services, enhancing rural self-governance. However, election delays in local bodies threaten Karnataka's eligibility for further central grants, with Rs 2,842 crore already withheld due to these delays.
