The Chicago Plan Commission has approved plans to transform the former U.S. Steel South Works site into a quantum computing campus, a project expected to bring billions in investment and thousands of jobs. The Illinois Quantum & Microelectronics Park, anchored by tech firm PsiQuantum, faces opposition due to environmental concerns and lack of community engagement. Developers promise a zero-emissions facility, but final approval from the City Council is still needed.
