BP and partners invest $7 billion in Papua, Indonesia, for a gas project with carbon capture, starting in 2028.

BP and partners have committed $7 billion to develop a gas field and implement carbon capture technology in Indonesia's Papua region. The project aims to unlock 3 trillion cubic feet of gas resources and sequester around 15 million tonnes of CO2 initially. Set to begin production in 2028, it will utilize existing infrastructure at the Tangguh LNG facility, marking Indonesia's first large-scale carbon capture project.
