U.S. imposes duties of up to 221.82% on imported shrimp to protect domestic shrimpers.

The U.S. International Trade Commission has imposed duties ranging from 2.24% to 221.82% on frozen warmwater shrimp imports from Ecuador, India, Indonesia, and Vietnam, in response to claims of dumping and subsidies that have harmed the domestic shrimp industry. Over 90% of shrimp consumed in the U.S. is now imported, leading to a 48% decline in domestic production since 2002 and impacting local communities. The new duties aim to protect American shrimpers from unfair competition.
