Pakistan lowers solar tariffs to boost renewable energy use, aligning with IMF recommendations.

Pakistan's government plans to lower tariffs for rooftop solar panels to between Rs7.5-11 per unit from the current Rs21, due to falling solar panel prices. This change aims to align with the reduced costs and address concerns from the IMF over declining use of grid electricity. The proposal also includes a revised credit system, where six units of solar energy will be equivalent to one grid unit, and consumers would pay Rs60 per unit for grid electricity during peak hours.
