Lotus, owned by Geely, shifts from an all-EV future to developing range-extender EVs by 2028.

Lotus, owned by China's Geely, has abandoned plans to produce only electric vehicles (EVs) by 2028. Instead, the company will develop range-extender EVs (EREVs) that use a petrol engine to charge the electric battery. Lotus aims for faster battery charging with a 900-volt platform and replaceable batteries. This shift follows similar decisions by other luxury automakers like Aston Martin and Bentley, who have also delayed their transitions to all-EV lineups.
