India mandates Aadhaar-based OTP verification for activating UANs to streamline job incentives.
The Indian government has mandated the Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) to activate Universal Account Numbers (UAN) for employees using Aadhaar-based OTP verification. This move, part of the Union Budget 2024-25, aims to streamline the Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) Scheme, increasing transparency and efficiency. Employers must activate UANs for all employees by November 30, 2024, enabling access to EPFO's online services and aiming to create over 2 crore jobs in two years.
