Vedanta Aluminium to cut emissions by switching to natural gas in India by late 2025.
Vedanta Aluminium has agreed to receive natural gas from GAIL Gas Ltd for its smelter in Jharsuguda, India, to cut its carbon emissions by around 47,292 tonnes of CO2 annually. This shift to natural gas, set to start by late 2025, supports Vedanta's goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. GAIL will build a 7.5-km pipeline to supply 32,000 standard cubic meters of gas daily under a five-year contract.
