UK Labour's asylum policies face criticism as arrivals rise and asylum hotels expand.

Since Labour came to power, the number of asylum seekers crossing the Channel has increased by 19%. Despite a manifesto pledge to end the use of asylum hotels, 14 new hotels have opened, bringing the total in use to 220. Home Office minister Dame Angela Eagle defended the government's efforts to find alternative accommodations, citing challenges inherited from the previous administration's policies.
