Sri Lanka reopens investigation into 2019 Easter bombings, questioning former officials' roles.

Sri Lanka's new government has reopened an investigation into the 2019 Easter Sunday bombings, which killed 270 people. The investigation focuses on alleged state officials' complicity, following a UK Channel 4 documentary. Former minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan was questioned by the Criminal Investigation Department over ties to the attacks. Chandrakanthan denied the allegations and called for his former spokesman, Azad Maulana, to be investigated. The new National Peoples' Power (NPP) government aims to address past criticisms that the investigation was a cover-up.
