Police Scotland faces investigation over using force on children at twice the rate of adults.

Police Scotland is under investigation for using force on children, who are twice as likely to experience such actions compared to adults. The Children and Young People's Commissioner (CYPC) launched the probe after 1,115 uses of force were recorded against children in 2023/24. The investigation will assess the frequency and types of force used, including batons, spray gas, and restraints, aiming to ensure children are treated with dignity and humanity.
