Pakistani bank highlights support for women entrepreneurs, noting they make up less than 10% of borrowers.

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) highlighted the importance of supporting women entrepreneurs at an event celebrating Women Entrepreneurship Day. Currently, women make up less than 10% of borrowers and hold only 26% of bank accounts. SBP Governor Jameel Ahmad praised the resilience of women entrepreneurs and noted that banks have disbursed Rs24 billion to over 20,000 women-led businesses. SBP has also conducted 50 awareness sessions to educate women about financing opportunities. The event concluded with awards for outstanding women entrepreneurs and financial institutions.
