Nigeria's NDLEA reports over 52,000 arrests and 8.6 million kg of drugs seized in three years.

The NDLEA in Nigeria has reported securing 9,034 convictions, arresting 52,901 traffickers and 52 barons, and seizing 8.6 million kilograms of illicit drugs over the last three years. NDLEA's CEO, Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa, called on Nigerian elites to support the fight against drug abuse, emphasizing a community-wide effort is needed. Marwa highlighted the UNODC's projection that drug use in Africa could rise by 40% by 2030, particularly among young adults.
