Minnesota denies entry to two-thirds of social equity applicants in cannabis license lottery.

Minnesota's cannabis regulators have denied entry into the first license lottery for two-thirds of the 1,817 social equity applicants. The Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) cited issues such as failing to meet qualifying standards, lacking necessary documents, and inconsistencies in ownership. The lottery, scheduled for the week of December 2, will allocate 280 pre-approval licenses to the remaining eligible applicants. The OCM aims to ensure only fully vetted applicants proceed, with official denial letters to be sent within two weeks. The licenses are intended to help disadvantaged communities prepare for the legal cannabis market opening in spring.
