Dunedin proposes plan to protect heritage sites, biodiversity, and live music by adjusting city's district plan.

The Dunedin City Council has proposed changes to the city's district plan to protect heritage buildings, biodiversity, and the live music scene. The plan includes adding 146 more heritage buildings to a preservation list, protecting 24,000 hectares of public land, and adjusting noise requirements for new homes. It also seeks to ease regulations for new healthcare facilities. Despite these protections, at least two proposed heritage buildings have already been demolished. Public consultation is open until December 18.
