Wisconsin grants Baraboo funds to assess a contaminated site for future park development near the Baraboo River.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has granted Baraboo funds to assess environmental conditions at a 0.28-acre former manufacturing site on Vine Street, preparing it for conversion into a park. This site, previously used for dairy storage, garment manufacturing, and more, will enhance public access to the Baraboo River. Adjacent sites have also shown contamination, and this grant supports broader redevelopment efforts in the area. Since 2009, the DNR’s program has funded over 70 communities for similar projects.
