Supreme Court pressures Indian government on slow redistricting progress in three Northeast states.

The Supreme Court is pressing the Indian government for updates on the delayed delimitation process in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Manipur. Though a 2020 Presidential order lifted deferrals, progress has been slow, with only Assam seeing action. The Election Commission says it needs specific directives to proceed, and the case will be heard again in January 2025.
