Russian ransomware suspect Evgenii Ptitsyn extradited from South Korea to face charges in the U.S.

Russian national Evgenii Ptitsyn, 42, has been extradited from South Korea to the US to face charges over his alleged role in distributing ransomware. Ptitsyn is accused of leading the Phobos ransomware operation, which targeted over 1,000 organizations globally and extorted more than $16 million in ransom payments. He faces up to several decades in prison if convicted of charges including wire fraud and computer fraud. His extradition marks a significant victory in the US fight against cybercrime.
