A New York State Supreme Court ruled in favor of Greenidge Generation, a crypto-mining facility, allowing it to continue operations despite environmental concerns. The DEC had previously denied the facility’s air permit renewal, but the court found this decision arbitrary. While the ruling supports Greenidge, it also affirms the DEC’s authority to deny permits based on climate standards under the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act. The case is now under further administrative review.
