New Zealand's daily smoking rate has plateaued at 6.9%, with Māori rates falling to 14.7%, but the country aims to reach a 5% smoking rate by 2025. To achieve this, the government plans to help around 80,000 more people quit smoking and has approved a 2.23% tobacco tax increase starting January 2025. The survey also found a 25% drop in youth vaping rates.
