New Orleans allocates $20M to NOLA Public Schools to address a $36M budget shortfall.

The City of New Orleans will provide $20 million to NOLA Public Schools to help address a $36 million budget shortfall caused by an accounting error. The city will pay $10 million this year and another $10 million in April 2025. The funds will help avoid cuts to teacher salaries and student supplies. The city also committed to a 10-year partnership to support school programs. Harrah's casino will contribute $6 million for programs and $4 million for Thrive Kids NOLA. The school board still needs to find $16 million to cover the remaining deficit.
