Nearly 70% of married South Korean women have experienced career interruptions due to pregnancy and child-rearing, with 1.22 million leaving the workforce in the first half of this year. Child-rearing and marriage were cited as primary reasons. Despite government support for childcare, the birth rate remains low. However, the employment rate for married women aged 15-54 reached a record high of 66%, partly due to policies like reduced working hours during pregnancy and early childcare.
