Illinois plans to install 2,000 electric vehicle fast-charging ports over the next 18 months, aiming for a station every 50 miles. Funded by the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act and Volkswagen settlement, this project will triple the state's fast chargers, helping Governor JB Pritzker's goal of one million EVs by 2030. The first station, opened in Joliet, was funded partly by a $480,000 grant and installed by Veterans Energy Team.
