Alberta's new hospital oversight agency, Acute Care Alberta, will launch in spring 2024, later than planned.

Alberta’s new hospital agency, Acute Care Alberta, will start operations in the spring, later than initially planned. The agency will oversee hospitals previously managed by Alberta Health Services and Covenant Health. The delay aims to ensure proper implementation, with Dr. Chris Eagle, a former Alberta Health Services CEO, aiding the transition. The restructuring also involves replacing the existing health "zones" with "health corridors" based on travel patterns. Minister Adriana LaGrange assured no disruptions to healthcare services during this transition.
