UK to present UN resolution calling for Sudan conflict ceasefire and aid access.

The UK will present a resolution to the UN Security Council, calling for Sudan's warring parties to halt fighting and allow aid deliveries. The draft, co-sponsored by Sierra Leone, also demands civilian protection. Foreign Minister David Lammy, leading the council, will announce a doubling of UK aid to Sudan, totaling £226 million ($285 million). The conflict between Sudan's army and Rapid Support Forces has caused thousands of deaths and massive displacement.
