Thirteen-year-old Zion Bischoff from Pullman died in a five-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 195 north of Rosalia. The accident happened when 68-year-old Stephen Powers lost control of his semitruck on icy roads, causing it to jackknife and collide with a Mazda CX-50 driven by Zion's father, Stephen Bischoff. Zion, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the hospital. His father was treated and released. The Washington State Patrol is investigating potential charges against Powers, who was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
