Study finds diabetes drug canagliflozin may protect kidneys by enhancing oxygenation.

Researchers at Osaka Metropolitan University found that SGLT2 inhibitors, drugs used to manage diabetes, may also protect kidney health by improving oxygenation. Studying the drug canagliflozin, they observed improved kidney oxygen levels using a non-invasive MRI technique. This could help prevent kidney disease linked to diabetes, a condition expected to affect 191 million people by 2030.
