India's State Bank of India (SBI) plans to open 500 new branches by the end of the financial year 2025, as announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The expansion aims to enhance banking access, especially in remote areas, while SBI also emphasizes its digital growth, handling up to 20 crore UPI transactions daily. Currently, SBI operates over 23,000 branches and serves more than 50 crore customers, playing a key role in government financial inclusion schemes like Jan Dhan Yojana.
