MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company secures deal to acquire nearly half of Hamburg's major port operator, HHLA.

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company has received final approvals for its takeover of shares in Hamburger Hafen und Logistik Aktiengesellschaft (HHLA), a major port operator in Hamburg. MSC will pay €16.75 per class A share, acquiring nearly half of HHLA, while the city of Hamburg retains a majority stake. This deal, expected to close by year-end, aims to modernize HHLA and expand MSC's operations in Hamburg, targeting at least one million TEUs by 2031.
